Sizing
Every hat company sizes differently, kind of like different shoe companies will size a bit differently. If anyone wants to discuss the involvement of ℿ in this phenomena call me.
To Measure:
1. Get a cloth measuring tape.
* Hot Tip: you can buy them at most local convenience stores.
2. Measure your head where you like to wear your hat.
* We recommend measuring around the widest part of your head, about a finger width or two above your ears.
* Try to keep the measuring tape fairly horizontal.
3. Measure to the nearest 1/8” inch, until you’re able to get the same measurement 3 times.
* You want to pull the tape snug but not tight.
4. Cross-reference our abbreviated size chart below to find your nearest size.
Not a standard size?
5. A lot of people are in-between the standard sizes listed. * You're in luck, in our custom department, we also make a few sizes in-between each standard size.
What shape is your head?
6. The shape of your head can greatly affect the way the hat feels and the brim behaves. We use a device called a conformateur (pictured below) to record a reading of the shape of your head, and conform your hat to this shape.
* Here are different head-shape examples as recorded by the conformateur. *
If you cannot come in to take a conformateur of our head shape, than the best way to tell if you are not a standard oval is to put on a hat and observe. Note if it’s tight in some areas, and loose in others… watch what the brim does as you take it on and off. Indicate these observations when you order your hat, and we can always video chat this process.
You might be a long-oval if:
* The brim appears wavy along the sides.
* The brim looks western only when you put it on.
* If the hat feels tight in the front and back, and loose on the sides
You might be a wide-oval if:
* The brim is wavy in the front and back.
* The hat feels more snug on the sides, and looser in the front and back.
